SCAGA has a variety of tournaments, in a variety of formats, no matter your handicap. The association conducts 9 major tournaments a year, including qualifying events for USGA National championships. SCAGA members click here for tournament information and to sign up for and all of our SCAGA events.
A part of the SCAGA membership, each member will receive a GHIN number that will provide the member with an WHS Handicap Index after posting 54 hole scores. State and regional golf associations, such as the SCAGA, are authorized by the WHS to issue a Handicap Index and monitor the World Handicap System. As part of the GHIN handicap network, SCAGA members have an opportunity to locally post scores at more than 30,000 courses across the world and have the scores routed to their home club. In addition, with the Mobile GHIN app and GHIN.com these posting features are always at your fingertips, being able to post from an iPhone or Android smartphone.
Another benefit of being a SCAGA member, the e-Newsletter allows members to receive their Handicap Index, recent scores, and news from the association via email on the 1st and the 15th of every month. If you are a SCAGA Member and are not receiving an e-Newsletter, please contact our office.
SCAGA is the member resource for all questions related to The Rules of Golf. The SCAGA staff conducts Rules seminars at sites throughout the area, and is available to conduct personal seminars at member clubs.
If you are a current SCAGA Member and you have made a hole in one, we want to send you a certificate commemorating the event. The SCAGA Hole in One award lists your accomplishment with details on the facility, hole, club used, distance, and date of the ace.
The award is on 8.5″ x 11″ card stock, perfect for framing, and is signed by the executive director of the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association. If you have made a hole in one and wish to receive your award fill out the form below:
How to Join
Membership to the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association is facilitated through our member clubs*. To become a Sun Country Amateur Golf Association member, all you have to do is visit one of our member clubs and tell them you’re interested in joining their association and getting a WHS handicap index.
When you visit one of our clubs to sign up, the Handicap Chairperson will provide you with a ID number (GHIN number), which you will use to post your scores. You only need three 18-hole scores to establish a WHS handicap index. Scores can be posted at your club, online at GHIN.com, or through the GHIN mobile app.
Fees vary depending on the club you join. Some associations may charge more but offer more benefits, so call the clubs you’re interested in and find out what they have to offer. $25 of the fee charged at the club will go to SCAGA to pay for your WHS handicap index and SCAGA membership dues. Membership at the club and with SCAGA is renewed annually and is active from January (or the time you sign up) through December 31st of that year.
*It is not currently possible to join SCAGA directly through our office. You must join through a member club.
